For the second consecutive summer, 91大黄鸭 Rockets head coach Kris Mallette is coaching at the international level.

Hockey Canada announced on Wednesday (July 5) that Mallette will serve as an assistant coach for Canada at the under-18 Hlinka Gretzky Cup, taking place in Trencin, Slovakia and Breclav, Czechia from July 31 to August 5.

Mallette will be behind the bench with head coach Alan Letang (head coach Sarnia Sting - OHL), fellow assistant coach Sylvain Favreau (head coach Drummondville Voltiguers - QMJHL), goaltender coach Justin Pogge, and video coach James Emery.

鈥淲e are excited to unveil the coaching and support staff that will lead our National Men鈥檚 Summer Under-18 Team in its defence of our gold medal at this year鈥檚 Hlinka Gretzky Cup,鈥� said Hockey Canada Director of Player Personnel Alan Millar. 鈥淎lan, Kris, Sylvain, Justin and James bring extensive experience both at the international and Canadian Hockey League level, and we know this group of coaches will provide valuable leadership to our team while wearing the Maple Leaf with pride next month.鈥�

Mallette and Team Canada will be looking for their second straight gold medal in the tournament, starting against Finland on July 31 at 10 a.m. Pacific time.
