Lunge and piste with Okanagan Fencing this summer

The group is hosting five-day summer camps for kids in July and August

The opportunity for your child to try out the unique sport of fencing is coming this summer.

Okanagan Freestyle Fencing (OFF) will be offering summer camps throughout July and August.

鈥淭hey are designed to introduce kids to the sport and give experienced fencers a chance at junior coaching,鈥 said OFF head coach Matt Clarke. 鈥淭hey are also to help keep kids active over the summer, and really just having fun!鈥

The camps will be hosted at the Oyama community hall (15710 Oyama Rd.) from 9 a.m. until 3:30 p.m.

All equipment will be provided, kids just need to have active wear, water bottle, a lunch and swimwear.

The five-day camp will see the participants play a variety of games like dodgeball, handball and indoor soccer. There will be drills and activities that work on hand eye coordination, which works synonymous with other sports.

鈥淭he kids will be introduced to fencing and basic techniques, with sword duelling being incorporated into each class,鈥 added Clarke. 鈥淭here will be an hour of free time and some time to swim, weather permitting.鈥

There are four camps, July 3-7, 17-21, 31- Aug. 4 and Aug. 21-25. Cost is $250 for the five days, or $60 a day.

The camps are geared for kids aged eight to 16. More information can be found at .

OFF has year-round classes that takes place in 91大黄鸭 and Vernon.
