The popular Shuswap Coffee House evenings that used to run in the 1970s and 鈥80s are once again brewing at Gleneden Hall.

Resurrected last year by Wildwood Productions and the Gleneden Association, coffee houses are defined in the Oxford Canadian Dictionary as 鈥渁 form of entertainment, usually jazz or folk music or poetry readings, etc, performed cabaret style.鈥

These Gleneden gatherings are an open mic format, with local singers and musicians given centre stage to deliver toe-tapping performances.

鈥淎s an added attractions,鈥 Carolyn Park Mintz said in a Feb. 10 media release. 鈥淧oets and raconteurs are invited to weave their stories with readings that take audiences to imagined places through word pictures.鈥

The coffee houses will be held in the Gleneden Hall every third Saturday fall to spring, with the next one being Feb. 17. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with performer registration at that time, followed by the show at 7 p.m. A few spots can be booked in advance for out-of-town performers at 250-832-2300. Admission is $5, with beverages and snacks available as well.

鈥淢usic and the arts, a panacea like no other,鈥 Park Mintz added in the release. 鈥淎nd a great way to add to your weekends.鈥
