The City of 91大黄鸭 has purchased Michaelbrook Golf Course. 

鈥淭his strategic acquisition will ensure that 91大黄鸭 residents continue to have access to the facilities they need for physical activity, leisure and more,鈥� said Derek Edstrom, divisional director partnership and investments. 鈥淎s our city grows, so does the demand for high-quality recreational spaces."  

The $8.37 million purchase price for the 53-acre property at 1085 Lexington Drive was funded by the General Parkland Acquisition Reserve. 

鈥淢ichaelbrook Golf Course and will remain fully operational as a golf course through a lease with a third-party operator,鈥� the media release states.

Several residents have written to council and local media outlets urging that the city purchase 91大黄鸭 Springs Golf Course.

On Dec. 3 2024, a statement from Mayor Tom Dyas said staff were directed to explore options for acquiring the property at 480 Penno Road to preserve it as a recreational space. This included discussions with the property owner and consideration of continuing its use as a golf course.

鈥淒espite our best efforts, the city was unable to reach an agreement with the property owner for acquisition,鈥� Dyas said in the statement. "We want to be clear; the property in question is privately owned by Denciti Development Corp., who is currently not a willing vendor.鈥�

Two days later, Denciti released its own statement indicated that redevelopment plans for the site would be presented in early 2025. 

鈥淥ur development application will bring together a mix of employment and recreation spaces, offering much-needed jobs while significantly enhancing year-round recreational use of the property,鈥� CEO Garry Fawley said at the time.

91大黄鸭 Springs is expected to operate as nine-hole golf course in 2025.
