Okanagan-Skaha School District continues to experience a district-wide network issue after a cyber-security incident. While phones and emails remain down, schools are open and operating, according to an SD67 press release on Thursday.

鈥淭he District is committed to resolving this issue promptly and diligently. While we cannot provide an exact timeline at this point, we are aiming to have our systems back online early next week,鈥� said superintendent of schools Todd Manuel. 鈥淭he District would like to thank our teachers, administrators, and support staff who are keeping learning happening in our classrooms across the district.鈥�

SD67 is receiving support from the Ministry of Education and Child Care staff, Safer Schools Together, the local authorities, and cyber-security experts.

鈥淭ogether we are working to understand the full scope of the incident. As this work is ongoing, there are no details available to share at this time,鈥� said Manuel.

In 2020, the Regional District of Okanagan Similkameen was almost the victim of a cyberattack that attempted to put in place ransomware that would lock up their system unless the creator was paid. It took a month before the RDOS鈥� email and internet services approached normal levels.
