A man inside a stolen vehicle, filled with illicit drugs and a vehicle key fob programming kit was arrested on Jan 9.
The key fob programming kit is of particular interest to the 91大黄鸭 RCMP and anyone with information on its origine is asked to contact the 91大黄鸭 RCMP.
鈥淭hese kits are costly and used by auto dealers and mechanics to program key fobs for vehicles,鈥 said Sgt. Scott Powrie with the Crime Reduction Unit.
鈥淚n the wrong hands, it could be used to assist a would-be thief steal virtually any vehicle that uses a key fob and we are very happy to have recovered it. The kit has been seized as stolen property and we are seeking public assistance in determining where it came from.鈥
The 48-year old man who was occupying a parked Honda Civic which had been previously reported stolen from Richter Street on Dec. 31.
The man, who is known to police, was arrested at approximately 9:30 a.m. on Jan. 9, on Burnett Street in 91大黄鸭.
Incidental to arrest, officers also found a quantity of illicit drugs that the RCMP believes to be indicative of "street level trafficking," and a vehicle key fob programming kit 鈥 which has since been seized as evidence.
The suspect has been released from custody while the investigation into the stolen vehicle, the possession of drugs and the key fob programming kit is ongoing.
