Puck luck didn't go the 91大黄鸭 Chiefs' way on Friday, Jan. 10 as they lost to the Osoyoos Coyotes 5-4 in overtime.
An early 91大黄鸭 penalty opened the door for the Coyotes' Logan Messer, who scored 3:44 into the contest to open the scoring. It was his fourth goal of the season.
It wasn't until the 17:44 mark when Chiefs' Sam Lescarbeau responded with his fourth goal of the season to tie the game. Steve Andrusiak and Jack Libin assisted on the goal.
The second period featured back and forth action, starting with Aiden Petherick's second goal of the season at the 7:06 mark to give 91大黄鸭 a 2-1 lead.
But Osoyoos responded with two goals in 3:19 to regain the lead. Kaelen Halowaty found the back of the net, also for the second time this season at the 13:01 mark, followed by Austin Cooper's 11th at 16:20.
Before the period's end, 91大黄鸭's Aiden Morcom reached double digits with his 10th of the season, assisted by Owen Miller and Owen Ivanov.
The Chiefs took their first lead of the game 7:13 into the third period when Matt Saretsky buried his eighth goal of the campaign, assisted by Libin and Luke Rishaug.
Their lead lasted for just under eight minutes as Kyle Cyr scored a powerplay goal with 4:59 left in regulation to knot the game once again.
Free hockey was needed as the teams went to overtime where Cyr scored his second of the game, third on the season just 1:53 in to give the Coyotes the 5-4 win.
Jedd Stybel made 24 saves in the loss for the Chiefs while Jaiden Jakubowski made 30 saves in the win.
91大黄鸭 is now 1-7-1-1 in their last 10 games and 10-16-1-3 on the season.
The two teams will face off again on Saturday night, this time in Osoyoos. Puck drop is at 7 p.m.
