Get ready, racquetball fans, as a national competition is hitting its way into Vernon.
Over 30 of Canada's elite players from the sport will be competing for spots on the national team at the winter selection event, hosted at The Roster Sports Club from Feb. 7-9.
"These are amateur athletes that have devoted many years of practice with the help of coaching staff through Racquetball Canada," said Roster head coach Bob Wolf. "Players that are selected will play wherever there is a National Team event taking place around the world, including the Pan Am games."
According to Wolf, this is the second time The Roster has been selected to host the competition.
"I am very grateful to have this opportunity to host such a high level of racquetball here in Vernon," Wolf said. "I strongly encourage everyone to come in and check out this wonderful sport of racquetball."
Match formats are divided into male/female divisions, playing best three out of five games to 11, with rally point scoring.
Admission to the event is free. More information can be found at .
Wolf is an avid promoter of the sport and hosts numerous ladies', juniors', and adult programs at The Roster.
"I host an annual September tournament which brings 40 players from across Canada," said Wolf. "Players renew long-term friendships and rivalries."
