After splitting a pair of close games over the weekend, the KIJHL鈥檚 North Okanagan Knights were throttled by the 91大黄鸭 Chiefs, 6-2 on Tuesday (Oct. 3) night in 91大黄鸭.
From the opening puck drop, the Chiefs were on the attack, with Lucas Alexander scoring 10 minutes in for 91大黄鸭. Poor penalties taken by Richard Burden and Gage Parrell from the Knights minutes later led the Chiefs to capitalize twice on the power play, from Matt Keylor and Parker MacDonald.
Just 30 seconds into the second period, Jacob Shatif鈥檚 first of the year put the home team up 4-0, which chased Knights goalie Michael Malinowski.
Both teams would trade goals later in the frame, with Gage Parrell鈥檚 fourth of the year finally putting the Knights on the board. However, Ford Gilbert would quickly follow with a score of his own to restore the four-goal lead.
A quick strike shot from Fraser O鈥橞rien 38 seconds into the third brought North Okanagan to within three, but Campbell Pinsonneault鈥檚 third of the season capped off the 6-2 victory.
Cayden Hamming stopped 18 of 20 shots in relief of Malinowski while Chiefs goaltender Brendan Smith saved 25 for his second win of the year. The Chiefs are now 2-4 on the season, while the Knights drop to 2-3.
North Okanagan鈥檚 eight penalties were the most of the season, as Brayden Schwaerzle was tossed from the game at the end of the second with an unsportsmanlike conduct for roughing.
A triple header in the Kootenay鈥檚 is next for the Knights, as they face Fernie, Creston Valley and Kimberley this weekend.
The Chiefs are at home again on Friday, Oct. 6 to play the 100 Mile House Wranglers.
