Mother Nature has cooperated in the form of close to 50 centimetres of fresh snow, helping Baldy Mountain Resort extend its ski season for one more week.
The resort saw 48 centimetres of snow over seven days 鈥 including 32 cm in 48 hours 鈥 helped them extend the season until April 7.
鈥淪ome big events are planned for our last few days of operation,鈥 representatives from the resort west of Oliver said. 鈥淚n April, we plan on bringing back the dummy downhill on April 6, and our annual Slush Cup is back on April 7. On March 24, we have our season pass appreciation pancake breakfast.鈥
鈥淲e look forward to another great end to our winter ski season.鈥
Apex Mountain Resort near Penticton, meanwhile, says on its Facebook page that after 鈥渁 tough season,鈥 it offering 50 per cent off skiing and snowboarding for season-pass holders from Monday to Friday until April 1.
The resort has contended with both extreme cold and mild temperatures this year 鈥 both of which led to the cancellation of some ski and snowboarding services. But now there is fresh powder on the hills.
Following last week鈥檚 snowfall, the Western News has reached out to the Apex Mountain Resort to inquire if the hill is considering extending its season.
