Three medals for 91大黄鸭 skaters at B.C. Games

91大黄鸭 Skating Club members more than held their own against the province鈥檚 best this week at the 2016 BC Winter Games.

Seven local skaters returned from Penticton with three of a possible six medals in the  Women鈥檚 Singles events.

Leading the way was 91大黄鸭鈥檚 own Ashley Sales, who struck gold in the Pre-Novice Women鈥檚 event.  The twelve year-old Dorothea Walker Elementary student opened with a 3rd place finish in the short program, but dominated the free program, catapulting her to a 96.32 total points finish 鈥 nearly 5 points higher than the second place finisher, Olivia Bau of Vancouver Island.

Joining Sales on the podium was her club mate Daria Carr, who scored a total of 81.08 points to win the bronze medal.

91大黄鸭鈥檚 Maya Rose and Alyssa Dobbs finished 7th and 9th, respectively.

In the Juvenile Women鈥檚 division, 10-year-old Vienna Harwood skated to a personal-best score of 31.19 points, and captured the gold medal in the field of 18 top BC skaters.

Her club mates Madeline Foley and Julia Crowther finished 9th and 10th, respectively.

鈥淭hese are very promising results for our club,鈥 said KSC Director Jason Mongrain.  鈥淢any of our skaters who placed well at the BC Games in the past went on to have great success at the national level.鈥

This weekend, the 91大黄鸭 Skating Club is hosting the 2016 BC Super Series STARSkate Final at the Capital News Centre.
